Are you a database expert passionate about high availability, performance tuning, and complex architectures? We are seeking a SQL Database Consultant to join our international Technology Hub in Portugal. In this role, you will lead the operation of enterprise-grade database platforms that drive large-scale transformation programs across the EMEA region. This position goes beyond basic maintenance; you will have end-to-end ownership of the database lifecycle, including migrations, backup strategies, and disaster recovery, ensuring total alignment with ITIL 4 standards. O que terás de fazer

- To manage multi-platform database environments, including Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MariaDB, and MongoDB;

- To deploy, configure, initialize, and decommission database instances across on-premises and hybrid environments;

- To execute patching and upgrade cycles in accordance with vendor recommendations;

- To plan and execute database migrations, including version upgrades, platform changes, and modernization initiatives;

- To assess migration risks, dependencies, and downtime requirements to ensure minimal service disruption.

- To design, implement, and maintain robust backup and restore strategies to ensure data integrity;

- To define, implement, and maintain disaster recovery strategies, including replication and failover testing;

- To perform proactive monitoring, health checks, and performance tuning.

- To analyze capacity trends and anticipate scalability requirements;

- To develop and execute scripts for reporting, automation, and operational visibility;

- To ensure compliance with data residency, access control, and security policies;

- To maintain up-to-date documentation, including architecture diagrams and operational runbooks.

O que precisas de garantir

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Technology;

- Minimum of 3–5 years of hands-on experience in database administration or similar engineering roles;

- Proficiency in written and spoken English;

- ITIL 4 Foundation certification with practical application;

- Advanced proficiency in MSSQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, and MongoDB;

- Ability to manage patching cycles ranging from monthly (MSSQL) to bi-annually (Oracle);

- Maintain methodical, proactive, and solution-oriented mindset;

- Demonstrate strong ownership and accountability in production environments;

- Communicate clearly and in a structured manner with both technical and non-technical stakeholders;

- Willingness to undertake occasional travel as required by international projects.
