Main Purpose of the Role
As a DevOps advocate you will work to understand the development/service teams requirements and improve their speed while embedding SRE practices into the team.
Work closely with our developers and architects in every part of our products life-cycle to build and run services and systems that respond consistently and reliable.
You will develop your soft and technical skills by taking part in all related activities and your contribution will also be part of the solution design and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
• Working with the Developers, QA, Architect and other Engineering teams to identify and ensure all components match high-availability scenarios and to uphold excellent standards of quality;
• Enabling development teams to build monitoring, alarmist and reporting to ensure all our live products are kept at their highest availability;
• Developing tools and new solutions to enable self-service for other teams, making sure the development teams can deliver as fast as they can, with full visibility of their services;
• Automate everything!
Skills and experience
Skills
• Development and architecture (any language)
• Configuration management and versioning (e.g. Git)
• Configuration automation (e.g Ansible)
• Containers runtime and orchestration (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes)
• CI/CD tools (e.g. GitLab, Jenkins)
• Cloud platforms (e.g. Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud)
Experience
• A minimum of 3 years working on production grade services (High Availability systems)
• Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language
• Self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail
