Kelly Engineering Resources is recruiting a Buyer - Santa Iria da Azóia to integrate a company focused on the high performance of Astronomy Industry.Primary roles
The position is responsible for ensuring the Purchasing targets and savings, stock control, on-time delivery and incoming quality of direct materials/services are achieved. This person will report directly to the Production Manager
Tasks
• Place purchase orders using PHC software, chase acknowledgments;
• Negotiate prices for the purchase of material, tooling and services;
• Work with suppliers worldwide to reduce costs by identifying process improvements;
• Work with the tools available to facilitate the scheduling and on-time delivery of material and components to support manufacturing (MRP);
• Manage the stock level to within agreed targets;
• Implement any improvements to stock control via new systems i.e Kanban, JIT, etc;
• Communicate with suppliers and follow up in writing on critical issues to the organization;
• Communicate in a timely manner to the Production Manager any issues that affect the smooth running of production;
• Monitor and take action to correct and poorly performing suppliers;
• Ensure that all supplier invoices in query with accounts are dealt with in a timely manner;
• Ensure that PHC is maintained with updated pricing, lead times and supplier updates;
• Identify new suppliers in line with business requirements;
• Visit relevant trade shows when necessary;
• Undertaking special projects as directed by the Production Manager;
• Performing any task necessary to "get the job done"
• Maintain approved supplier list for ISO9001;2015.
Skills
• Degree in Electrotechnical Engineer or similar;
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in the manufacturing industry with a preference for electronics;
• Skilled negotiator;
• Strong communicator with good interpersonal skills;
• Knowledge of Purchase Order Management;
• Ideally some knowledge of electro-mechanical products - metalwork, moldings, electronic components;
• Understanding of stock control;
• Working Knowledge of an MRP System and Microsoft Products;
• Knowledge of PHC Software and PHC Manufacturer would be a plus;
• Fluent in English.
